Ryder Sisson maintained his undefeated amateur record at AKA 56, submitting Dustin Mahan with a rear-naked choke in the opening round at Southland Casino Hotel.
Sisson entered the fight at 2-0 with finishes in both of his previous amateur appearances. Mahan brought a 1-1 MMA record and a striking background that included experience in kickboxing and Muay Thai.
The matchup presented a clear contrast in skills. Mahan possessed the striking experience to create danger on the feet, while Sisson had already shown an ability to end fights through both striking and grappling.
Sisson imposed his game and brought the contest to a decisive conclusion before the end of the first round. After gaining control on the ground, he secured Mahan’s back and finished the fight with a rear-naked choke at 2:56.
The submission improved Sisson’s amateur MMA record to 3-0, with all three victories coming by first-round stoppage.
His first two victories included a ground-and-pound finish against Mossa Alwisi and another successful appearance against Brandon Arp. The win over Mahan added a clean submission to his developing résumé and further demonstrated that Sisson is capable of finishing opponents in multiple ways.
Remaining undefeated is difficult at any level of mixed martial arts. Doing so while finishing every opponent makes Sisson’s early run particularly noteworthy.
AKA 56 marked American Kombat Alliance’s debut at Southland Casino Hotel in West Memphis, Arkansas. Sisson used the new stage to deliver one of the night’s fastest and most decisive performances.
At 3-0 with three first-round finishes, Ryder Sisson has established himself as one of the amateur featherweight prospects to watch as AKA continues expanding throughout the region.
