When it was over, Cruz emerged with the unanimous-decision victory after a competitive fight that forced both men to work until the final bell.
The official judges scored the contest 29-26, 28-27 and 28-27 in favor of Cruz.
All three judges agreed on the winner, but the two 28-27 scorecards showed how competitive much of the fight was.

Obenofunde continued competing and answering throughout the contest, forcing Cruz to remain engaged for all three rounds.

For Cruz, the result adds a hard-earned victory to his record and demonstrates his ability to come through in a competitive fight that reaches the judges.
For Obenofunde, the loss does not erase the performance.
He remained dangerous, stayed in the fight and helped produce one of the more competitive battles of the night.
