It’s veteran vs. prospect in the main event of AKA 58.
Tonight, American Kombat Alliance returns to the Horseshoe Casino in Bossier City, LA with a stacked fight card.
The headliner takes place in the welterweight division as MMA veteran Micheal “Murder” Murphy looks for his fifth-straight win against Dey McIntosh, who has finished all of his wins.
Murphy has went eight rounds with current UFC lightweights MarQuel Mederos and Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady. The 38-year-old is one of the most active fighters in MMA today, once fighting four times in seven months.
Murphy returns after his first-round TKO win over Kyron Bowen at AKA 56 back in July while “Buckshot” McIntosh makes his promotional debut.
Round 1:
Murphy throws a headkick and follows it up with punches. McIntosh immediately goes for a takedown in the first 20 seconds and get it after the early flurry. McIntosh takes the back of Murphy, who tries to turn into him. McIntosh stays on the back, holding the advantageous position. Murphy transitions and gets top control on McIntosh.
Murphy lands some punches from top position, but nothing too major. With two minutes to go in the round, Murphy continues to control McIntosh on the ground. McIntosh throws up his legs, attempting a triangle choke from bottom.
It doesn’t go anywhere with Murphy looking for a can-opener submission, pulling the neck of McIntosh towards him. No submission either for Murphy. Murphy lands a strike from top as the bell sounds.
Round 2:
Murphy lands a left hook on McIntosh. Murphy swings big with punches and closes the distance but it’s McIntosh who gets the takedown while he’s in close. McIntosh establishes full mount on Murphy on the ground. McIntosh smothers the veteran from the top. Murphy attempts an Ezekiel choke from the bottom but to no avail.
McIntosh gets the back of Murphy and attempts a rear-naked choke. Instead of fighting the hands, Murphy tries to pry off McIntosh’s legs. Murphy is able to reverse McIntosh and grabs top position.
Murphy lands a few punches from the top, making it hard for McIntosh to escape. Murphy makes McIntosh uncomfortable with the can-opener submission. Murphy stays busy with a little ground and pound before getting back up to his feet as the round ends.
Round 3:
Jab lands for McIntosh. McIntosh eats a strike from Murphy before going for a takedown against the cage. Murphy stays on the feet as he looks for a whizzer. McIntosh stays on Murphy like glue, clinching up with him against the cage. Murphy reverses the position and pummels in, scoring a takedown on the prospect.
Murphy lands a few ground and pound strikes on McIntosh. Nothing too crazy, but Murphy is scoring points. McIntosh looks for a triangle submission, one he doesn’t get as Murphy topples him, eating a few upticks on the way down. McIntosh once again goes for the triangle choke with less than 30 seconds on the clock. Murphy throws massive ground and pound while in the choke as the fight comes to a close.

Following his fifth-straight win in combat sports, Micheal Murphy told AKA commentator Matt Schnell in his post-fight interview that he wants a shot at the UFC through Dana White’s Contender Series.
