Steve “The Average Jones” Jones closed AKA 55 with a hard-earned victory, defeating Shane Sobnosky by split decision in the professional middleweight main event at Barksdale Air Force Base.
Held on Independence Day inside a packed aircraft hangar, AKA 55: Flags, Fights & Freedom delivered one of the most unique atmospheres in American Kombat Alliance history. Active-duty personnel, military families, local fight fans, and members of the surrounding community filled the hangar for a full night of professional and amateur mixed martial arts.
Jones and Sobnosky entered the cage as experienced professionals with nearly 30 combined fights. Their experience showed throughout a competitive matchup in which neither fighter was able to establish complete control.
With the contest reaching the judges’ scorecards, two of the three officials awarded the fight to Jones. The split-decision victory improved his professional MMA record to 9-6 and gave the Longview MMA and Team 515 representative another important win on the regional circuit.
Jones has now earned five of his nine professional victories by decision, demonstrating an ability to remain composed and productive through full-length fights. Four of his other victories have come by knockout or technical knockout.
For American Kombat Alliance, the fight provided a fitting conclusion to an event built around competition, service, and community. Performing in front of a packed Barksdale crowd, Jones and Sobnosky delivered a closely contested main event worthy of the historic setting.
AKA 55 took place July 4, 2026, at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana.
